Folkloric Teacher (Phoenix, AZ)

 

Full Time.  Requires Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Dance, Education or any closely related field with 1 year of experience in the offered position, as a Dance Teacher, Studio Instructor or any related position.  Must have 1 year of experience as a teacher.  Must have experience teaching or performing any type of Hispanic folkloric dance.  Must have demonstrated knowledge of the cultural history of any type of Hispanic folkloric dance, customs and traditions; with creating lesson plans, establishing learning objectives and creating and tracking students’ coursework. Knowledge can be gained through college-level coursework, work experience, internship and/or certification.   Teach Hispanic folkloric dance, culture and arts to elementary school children. Lessons will include dance instruction and instruction on history and cultural customs and traditions. Create curriculum development and dance choreography through lesson planning and participate in curriculum reviews. Develop and provide differentiated instruction for all learners including English Language Learners, and Special Education students. Use online platforms and apps to create interactive lessons and homework assignments. Establish clear rules and expectations and use positive reinforcement to encourage good behavior. Show empathy and understanding when students struggle. Encourage students to ask questions and provide ample opportunities for practice.  Participate in Professional Learning Communities that include content level or grade level groups.
