Aim Higher College Prep Academy

ORGANIZATION OF SCHOOLS

Our 15-acre campus is a prepared learning environment organized into two distinct schools, Reyes Maria Ruiz Leadership Academy, Grades K-6; and Aim Higher College Prep Academy, Grades 7-8. Each has its own identity, organization and theme in order to improve instruction.

We have organized the schools into teams that correspond to their respective standardized testing levels of second through sixth and seventh through eighth grades. These teams will utilize the data results from these test years to place students into correct cohorts, so teachers can create an Individual Learning Plan for each student, and adjust their teaching strategies.
Each team is also organized to correspond to the “Trivium” curriculum levels: Grammar - Kindergarten through the fifth grade; Logic – sixth to eighth grades, and Rhetoric I, grades nine and ten, and Rhetoric II, grades eleven and twelve, with Honors available for students who qualify.

The teacher is the facilitator of learning and they are required to structure their classroom by organizing their students into cohorts of excelling, meeting, approaching, or falls far below, based upon an analysis of at least the last three years. The teacher then prepares annual goals and teaching strategies for each of their students and adjusts them each week based upon an internal assessment.
The goal is to have more than eighty-five percent of our students pass the Reading AZ-Merit, and have seventy-five percent of students pass the Math AZ-Merit by the end of the 2016 Academic Year.

GRADES 7-8

The educational philosophy of Aim Higher College Prep Academy is the belief that every child can succeed academically and become leaders in their communities and the world. Similar to the program at NFL YET College Prep Academy, Aim Higher College Prep Academy provides an environment that will develop students academically, physically, and spiritually – forming the entire person. In order to accomplish this we implement the Classical Educational Model (CEM) which develops students into International Servant Leaders, effectively preparing them for success in college and university. We cultivate charity, service, and respect for the personal beliefs of others and promote a sense of civic responsibility through our Servant Leadership courses.

Aim Higher College Prep Academy has a current enrollment of 24 students in its inaugural year, and its principal purpose is to form International Servant Leaders. This academic program will allow students to demonstrate the desire, ability, and heart to change the world. The students must demonstrate mastery in Leadership Formation, Community Development Methodology, and Project Management. They will also be expected to demonstrate competency in Mass Media, and Computer skills. By graduation students will be able to manage and complete a minor (local) project. The element of a successful project is when a student is able to demonstrate the use of all of these skills in completing a demonstration project.

Students in grades 7-8 sole focus is mastery of the core curriculum of Math/Science, Language Arts, and History/Social Studies. The curriculum has as its foundation the “Trivium” philosophy of education. The corresponding “Trivium” level, Logic, focuses on the piecing together of basic facts and the logical interpretation of them.
